M&S Bank launched in Autumn 2012, built on the foundations of M&S Money, a familiar name in financial services for over 25 years. In becoming M&S Bank, the company launched new services, including a current account, and opened its first beautifully designed in-store branch.
Key to the launch of M&S Bank was a smart new brand that strongly linked with the fashion heritage of M&S. The brief was to create website content that supported M&S Bank’s new brand guidelines as well as to create a series of scripts for M&S Bank TV.
We worked with the in-house digital marketing team to provide fresh content for M&S Bank’s new website.
Copy was created to support new products and services and existing copy was re-written to support the new brand guidelines. The project was extensive involving a large number of web pages and spanning a number of months. It was complex in that the content had to be tantalising and fresh while conforming to strict FSA rules which govern the sale of financial products.
We also provided a series of scripts for M&S Bank TV.
The scripts were used by M&S Bank’s senior management and TV personality Phil Spencer in creating films which can be viewed by customers online and in store. The scripts covered a variety of subjects, from an introduction to the ethos behind M&S Bank through to new product films and user guides for services such as online banking. They were carefully written to ensure the right information was conveyed in a conversational tone within a set timeframe.
